WebOct 1, 2016 · If the hosts are configure via DHCP to use your server as the DNS server, then it would make sense that your hosts cannot use DNS to resolve names to addresses. That does not mean that your Internet is down. The Internet still works correctly, only the applications which use DNS can't resolve names to addresses. WebDHCP servers can provide redundancy and high availability. If one DHCP server were to fail, the clients will preserve their current IP addresses and not cause an interruption for the end-nodes. Organizations will prefer a DHCPv6 server that has been tried and tested.
